Have you ever wondered¦.. If God is a DJ and life is a dance floor, what is it that we are dancing for?
Perhaps it is time to get fit for some greater calling and these dance moves may be exactly the kind of exercise we need for our future mission.
If education trains us for our life in a profession, then life itself is our training for something bigger.
“Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known.” 1 John 3:2.
What we often don’t realize is that God has a bigger plan for us than any of us can imagine and we are not on this earth by accident. God has a plan and a purpose for us in this world, which goes beyond this world.
LinC, the student Christian group, is all about sharing faith, life and love. In 2005 the group is setting the wheels in motion for a year of endless possibilities. Some of the proposals for this year include twilight retreats, guest speakers and visiting artists, such as a Christian cartoonist. Most of our weekly lunch time bible studies are led by a guest minister from the local Christian community. Love is central to the group where honesty is encouraged and every opinion respected and valued. The group has always enjoyed a healthy social life and this has led to building bonds of friendship.
“LinC” is an acronym for Life in Christ. There are various references to the life that we have in Christ throughout the bible. 2000 years ago this “life in Christ” was something that people would die for as they realized that this earthly existence was only part of their story.
The bible quote that readily comes to mind is, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10. The life that is being referred to here is the life that goes beyond this physical life. There is a plan and definite purpose for us in this life which goes beyond this life.
Love is the Rhythm and you are the music.
Surely, if we are searching for the purpose we will find this in looking at the New Testament version of the two greatest commandments which are to love God and to love others.
We don’t need to look too far to realize that we need to work on our ability to love. But love is the rhythm and you are the music. Life is in Christ and it is up to us to receive this life and make the life that we live now achieve its purpose.
